Where to stay in Twin Lakes with mountain views

If you can already picture yourself walking along the lakes or climbing Elbert, it’s time to think about where to sleep after all these adventures. Twin Lakes offers authentic accommodations with soul.

Old hotels, forest cabins, family B&Bs, and mountain cottages are popular here.

Twin Lakes Roadhouse Lodge

This roadside lodge is like something out of an old American movie, with a wooden porch, lake views, and evenings by the campfire. It feels like you’ve come to stay with friends who have simply converted their home into a place for travelers.

The Twin Lakes Inn & Saloon

A true legend. Built in 1879, this historic hotel was first a stagecoach station, then a brothel, and now a cozy place with 12 rooms, vintage furniture, and its own bar. Some rooms have private bathrooms. There is a restaurant and even a massage room with a nurse.

It’s the perfect place to experience the spirit of the West while sleeping on white sheets.

Mount Elbert Lodge & Cabins

If you want to wake up under pine trees with a view of Mount Elbert, this is the place for you.

Located just 4 miles from the village of Twin Lakes, this cozy mountain retreat stands at the start of the Black Cloud Trail. The cabins are wooden, simple, and welcoming. It is as quiet as a library and as cool as a refrigerator. Open year-round.

Stay Twin Lakes

If you’ve dreamed of waking up in a wooden cabin overlooking glacial lakes and stepping out onto the porch with a cup of coffee, this is the place for you. Stay Twin Lakes offers cozy cottages and several small studio cabins for rent. Inside, you’ll find a kitchenette, Wi-Fi, a soft bed, and a hot shower. Outside, you’ll find wilderness, SUP boards for rent, and trails right outside your door. Suitable for any time of year.

White Star Campground

For those looking for a night sky without streetlights, a campfire, and the sound of water somewhere nearby. White Star Campground is a place where you will live according to nature’s schedule. There is water, toilets, and tables, but no electricity. That’s how it should be.

Parry Peak Campground

Another place for those who choose to camp in a “get away from it all” style. Parry Peak Campground is nestled just above Twin Lakes, closer to the watershed. There are only 25 sites here, so even in summer, it feels secluded. The lake shore is a stone’s throw away, and the air is filled with the scent of pine and the sound of silence. Mountains surround the area, and at night you can see the Milky Way right from your sleeping bag. All sites must be reserved in advance at recreation.gov. Open from June to September.

What else?

In addition to these well-known places, Twin Lakes has other options for those looking for:

  1. Vacation homes and cottages, available through Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking, are especially popular during the summer season.
  2. Tent campsites nearby at Lakeview Campground or Parry Peak Campground for those who want to sleep under the stars.
  3. Guest houses and B&Bs in nearby Ledville (only 15 miles away), where there is a slightly wider choice, but also a faster pace of life.

Twin Lakes is not a place for mass tourism. So wherever you stay, it will be part of the very story that brought you here. A good vacation in the mountains starts with a good morning. In Twin Lakes, there will definitely be plenty of those.
